KITCHEN BAND
Our kitchen band has
been active for many years and is under the guidance and leadership of
Milly McPhedran. What makes a kitchen band? The instruments are usually
not expensive brass or reed conventional instruments, but are (as
suggested in the name) made at home. The band travels and entertains
at elementary schools, seniors lodges, other clubs and legions.
There are a limited
amount of available places in the band (because the bus only seats so many)
:)
The Railroad Rascals Kitchen
Band started up in 1980 and one lady was in her 80th year at that point in
time, and stayed with the band for 20 years. Yes, that made her 100
years young and still an active member of the band. In 2007 another
charter member has turned 104.
Music is not only good for the
soul, it is good for the spirit and for the people who watch these VERY entertaining
musicians play. They have a repertoire of over 200 pieces of music and
their antics are a treat to see and enjoy. They have programs for a
tribute to Canada, a tribute to the world, a fully classical program, something
for birthdays, or anniversaries. You name the theme and they can play
for it. They have recently been working on the Alberta Centennial official
song.
You are invited to any practice
on a Monday afternoon at Ogden House or keep watch for where they are performing
in the future.
Call Ogden House (279-2003)
to book the band for a performance at your venue.
